This is where I now live, Ballymena, a beautiful historic home set on a river with a hundred year old oak tree sitting on the edge of the pond across the croquet lawn.
I live in this piece of paradise with my husband Brian and my one and only little girl, Elkie. We are lucky to have beautiful kangaroos at our door step, ducks on the pond and a menagerie of animals everywhere you look.
I love to make bears and now chimps! I never really know what a piece will look like until it is just about finished. This is how I worked with my sculpural pieces and it is so exciting to watch something come to life!
As with all bears and critters, I really want mine to have lots of character and to talk to you. I love colour and texture so much , I was like a kid in a candy store when after several years of being out of the teddy scene, I walked into 'The Teddy Tree' stall at the craft show I went to in Perth last year and saw all the beautiful hand dyed mohairs on offer. Then round the corner was the bear ladies of Perth stall with all their wonderful creations and of course the fantastic Kim Russell creations. I am so lucky to live here and be able to see her work up close. What more inspiration could you need! That very night I started my first piece of felting, a nose, which now belongs to 'Minti' my very first Chimp!
As much as I love creating, I love my little girl so my time is split in two wonderful directions!
It is great to see so many fantastic bear artists out there! Technology is certainly good for some things. How lucky we are!
Take care and I hope you enjoy visiting my site.
Cheers,
Linda
